Why can't I sync videos with a lock icon?

The padlock icon indicates that the video/movie has been protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Movies that are purchased from the iTunes Store or are downloaded as part of a digital copy pack have DRM protection, which limits playback to "authorized" devices only.

The doubleTwist application is not able to bypass this protection so can not play or sync these protected files.
